Our strategy and plan of activities 2008-2011
AGRIDEA has a key position in the agricultural and rural knowledge system. The expertise of AGRIDEA staff covers the areas of agriculture, rural home economics, veterinary medicine, as well as development cooperation. Apart from their specialist knowledge, they also have the following competences:
- a broad methodological knowhow and excellent communication skills,
- the aptitude to go beyond boundaries, to combine new and established ideas and thereby foster development,
- talent for networking and facilitation.
AGRIDEA's strategy is designed to enable it to fulfil its important role also in future.
Axis 1: Contribute to enabling the agricultural sector to satisfy the expectations of society and thus to maintain the economic viability and competitiveness of the family farms.
The demands of society continue to evolve. The challenge for farming families is to integrate these demands in their strategies.
Axis 2: Promote synergies in the agricultural and rural knowledge system and contribute to the recognition of advisory services as being in the public interest.
The framework for the actors of the knowledge system is changing: decreasing public funds, increasing complexity of demands, trend towards privatisation, new division of responsibility between cantons and the federal government.
Axis 3: Performance- and result-oriented advisory service centres.
AGRIDEA will strengthen the collaboration between the two centres. To utilise potential synergies and to set priorities adequately, it will, together with the cantonal advisory services, continue to develop the division of tasks. It also intends to diversify its sources of funding.
